Coins from Auctions

This is a Russian silver ruble of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, dated 1753.

Obverse:
The obverse features a right-facing bust of Empress Elizabeth. She is depicted in imperial attire, with a detailed hairstyle and regal dress. The surrounding inscription, written in old Russian (Church Slavonic style), reads: “By the Grace of God, Elizabeth, Empress and Autocrat of All Russia.”

Reverse:
The reverse shows the imperial double-headed eagle, the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. The eagle is crowned with three crowns and holds a scepter and orb. On its chest is a shield with Saint George slaying the dragon. Around the edge is the inscription “MONETA RUBLE” (Coin Ruble), with the date 1753 above.
